Food Pantry Receives Thrivent Matching Funds Grant

Our Food Pantry has received a matching grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. For every dollar that is contributed to our Food Pantry from November 1st until January 31st, Thrivent will match all cash contributions dollar for dollar up to $10,000!

This last year, our Food Pantry has provided food to 11,595 individuals in 2,656 families. During these difficult economic times we are serving more new clients. The last two weeks we served 80 families one Monday and 96 the next; significantly more than our average of 56 families per week! Our cash reserves have dwindled by almost 50% over the last year.

For every $1 you donate during the matching funds period we will be able to obtain 14 pounds of food from the Capital Area Food Bank. 14 pounds of food equals 12 jars of peanut butter or 19 large cans of tuna fish. We are grateful for the generous ongoing financial support of our congregation. We would like to encourage you to donate to the Food Pantry during this "Thrivent Matching Funds Grant" period.

Donations can be made marked "Food Pantry" and placed in the offering plate or turned into the Church Office.
